International Patients Are Always Welcome at Tsukishima Patria Dental Clinic!
Hello everyone!
I’m the dentist at Tsukishima Patria Dental Clinic in Tokyo.
Today, I’d like to share something that is very important to me.
Dental care should have no borders.
At our clinic, we warmly welcome patients from all over the world, whether you live in Japan or are just visiting.
🌏 Language Should Never Be a Barrier to Dental Care
Over my 25 years as a dentist, including many years practicing in Harajuku and Omotesando, Tokyo, I have treated patients from many different countries.
Some of my international patients have told me that they had difficulty finding a dental clinic in Japan because they couldn’t speak Japanese.
One patient even told me that they had been turned away from another dental clinic because of the language barrier.
That made me feel sad.
Of course, communication is very important in dentistry. We need to understand our patients’ symptoms, explain treatment options, and make sure they feel comfortable.
But at our clinic, we will never turn someone away simply because they don’t speak Japanese.
We can use translation apps, pictures, diagrams, and other tools to help us communicate.
There is always a way to understand each other!
🦷 Teeth Are the Same All Over the World!
Here’s something I’ve always believed.
Whether you’re Japanese, American, European, or from anywhere else in the world, the basic principles of dental care are the same.
How do we brush our teeth?
How do we prevent cavities?
How do we treat tooth decay?
How do we keep our gums healthy?
The answers are fundamentally the same everywhere!
Of course, dental systems and treatment approaches may differ from country to country.
But the basic science of dentistry doesn’t change.
We use toothbrushes, dental floss, interdental brushes, and other familiar tools to maintain oral health.
And when treatment is necessary, the fundamental principles of dentistry are shared by dentists around the world.
After all, we all have human teeth!
Because we’re all human beings, right? (Haha!)
Our languages may be different, but our teeth don’t speak Japanese or English!
And cavities certainly don’t care what country you’re from!
📻 My English Is Still a Work in Progress!
Now, I have to confess something.
My English isn’t perfect!
Actually, I study English every day by listening to NHK Radio English lessons.
I’ve been studying for years, but I’m still dreaming of the day when I can speak English fluently!
Maybe someday! (Haha!)
But I believe that speaking perfect English isn’t the most important thing.
What matters most is making an effort to understand each other.
A smile, a little patience, and modern translation technology can go a long way.
And when it comes to dentistry, I have more than 25 years of clinical experience to help me understand your dental concerns.
